California Bars continue to flourish

The latest data from the California Department of Health shows that
California’s smoke free bar law has not brought about economic
hardship. An additional $879,816,000 of taxable sales were made in
California’s beer, wine liquor serving establishments during 1998 as
compared to 1997. This appears to contradict the tobacco industry
claims that such legislation would lead to economic chaos.

Low Risk-Factor Profile and Long-term Cardiovascular and
Noncardiovascular Mortality and Life Expectancy.
