Philip Morris fights EU Suit

'Wall Street Journal Europe reports that Philip Morris has launched a
challenge to a European Union suit that alleges it is involved in smuggling
cigarettes into 15 nation EU.' The tobacco company is challenging the
authority of the European Commission - the EU's executive arm- to initiate
the lawsuit.

'Colombia puts the brakes on smugglers' gravy train'

The Guardian provides an extensive article that examines the problem of
tobacco smuggling in Colombia. The article reports that the government
clampdown on the problem includes, 'action against both the suppliers and
smugglers.'

FOREST Christmas Party stubbed out

It was a case of customers for smoke free areas 1 FOREST 0 at the FOREST
Christmas party. The tobacco industry funded pressure group believed that
the restaurant was smoker friendly because it was run by the pro-smoking
celebrity Chef Anthony Worrall-Thompson. However, a waitress asked the
group, "Do you mind not smoking cigars out of consideration to other
diners."
