'Pharmacia eyes SB's stop-smoking products'

Pharmacia, the US drugs company has, emerged as a likely bidder for the US
rights to Smith Kline Beecham's smoking-cessation gum and patches should
either become available as the result of a US antitrust investigation.

'RJR income up 6% despite fall in consumption'

The Financial Times reports that, 'RJR Reynolds Tobacco, the group behind
Camel and Winston cigarettes, reported a 6 per cent rise in third-quarter
net income, despite inclining consumption and competitive challenges from
Philip Morris, its larger rival.'
