Jo Brand: on quitting ‘my biggest vice’

Jo Brand, the comedian, talks about giving up smoking in an interview
with the Mirror. Jo said, “I smoked 60 a day for 20 years. Bernie and
I each had our last one on the stroke of midnight on Easter Sunday. I
didn’t want to. Smoking is the best thing in the world, it’s gorgeous.
We didn’t use patches. Just four bags of Murray Mints a day as our
withdrawal treatment. God, we got sick of them.”

The article continues, “The trouble is if I get pissed, I’d probably
be at risk of smoking again. Convince myself that I had to have one.
Think, “Oh f**k it, 20 Silk Cut”. I’d hate to let Bernie down, so I’ve
really cut down on the old drinking”.
