British Heart Foundation
The BHF is the leading UK organisation working to reduce heart disease. As smoking is a major contributory factor, the BHF supports tobacco control policies and is a funder of ASH.
British Lung Foundation
The British Lung Foundation is the only UK charity to fund research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure for all lung diseases.
British Medical Association
The British doctors' organisation - both a trade union for its members and a powerful campaigning voice for tobacco policies.
British Thoracic Society
The official body of respiratory specialists. Produces a range of publications on lung diseases for both patients and health professionals.
Cancer Research UK
CRUK funds research into cancer treatment and prevention. Cancer Resarch UK is a key partner of the Smokefree Action Coalition and funder of ASH.
Centre for Tobacco Control Research
Based at Stirling University and funded by Cancer Research UK, the centre engages in research projects evaluating the socio-economic impacts of tobacco. It also hosts a database of documents from tobacco industry advertising agencies.
The Cochrane Library
The Cochrane Library contains high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. It includes reliable evidence from Cochrane and other systematic reviews, clinical trials, and more. Cochrane reviews are the the combined results of the world’s best medical research studies, and are recognised as the gold standard in evidence-based health care.

Health Promotion Agency (NI)
Provides health promotion information for Northern Ireland residents.
Health Scotland
Scotland's Health Improvement Agency: provides health promotion information for people in Scotland.
Heart of Mersey
England’s largest regional cardiovascular health charity working across Merseyside and Cheshire (and beyond) to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and related conditions such as cancer, diabetes and stroke.
National Heart Forum
The National Heart Forum (NHF) is a leading alliance of over 50 national organisations working to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and related conditions such as stroke, diabetes and cancer in the UK.
NHS Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT)
The Centre has been contracted by the Department of Health to help improve the delivery, management and commission of smoking cessation support services in England.
No Smoking Day
Provides information, campaign materials and top tips for quitting. It also runs the hugely successful annual No Smoking Day event.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation
Named after the entertainer Roy Castle who died of lung cancer caused by passive smoking. The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation conducts research into lung cancer, offers support and care for lung cancer sufferers and campaigned for smokefree public places and workplaces.
Royal College of Physicians (RCP)
The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) has produced a series of landmark reports on tobacco and health. Including a report on nicotine addiction and the medical case for smokefree places.
Royal Society for Public Health
An independent, multi-disciplinary organisation, dedicated to the promotion and protection of collective human health and well-being.
Smokefree Action Coalition
The Smokefree Action Coalition's previous campaign was for smokefree workplaces. The Coalition's website has been updated to reflect the latest campaigns on on Tobacco Control but the old site still exists as an archive. It includes a comprehensive range of resources and information on the campaign for smokefree law.
UK Centres for Tobacco Control Studies (UKCTCS)
The UK Centres for Tobacco Control Studies is a network of nine universities in the UK working in the field of tobacco control. The Centres are involved in research, policy development, advocacy and teaching.
Americans for Non-smokers' Rights
Americans for Non-smokers' Rights is a US organisation dedicated to nonsmokers' rights. It has promoted clean indoor air ordinances in thousands of communities and states across America.
Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids is an American organisation launched in 1995 to protect children from tobacco addiction and exposure to secondhand smoke. The organisation is a non-profit, non-government initiative.
Cancer Institute New South Wales Australia
The Cancer Institute NSW is a statewide, government supported cancer control agency. The insititute promotes the best cancer research, prevention, early-detection, treatment and education initiatives. The website has links to their campaigns and television commercials.

European Commission tobacco page
The European Union's main resources on tobacco explaining its campaigns and policy initiatives.
European Network for Smoking Prevention
The site includes a report on women and smoking in European Union which includes data on smoking for men, women and children in the EU and each country
Globalink
International list server for the tobacco control and research field. Contains numerous resources including a new books page and multimedia centre .
Institute for Global Tobacco Control
A free online training program in global tobacco control developed by faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with leading experts in the field and offering certificates of completion.
International Agency on Research in Cancer (IARC)
IARC is a division of World Health Organization devoted to cancer research. It has published several monographs on tobacco and the risks of cancer.
International Union Against Cancer (IUCC) Globalink
The International Union Against Cancer offers information on cancer.
The John Tung Foundation
The John Tung Foundation's (JTF) main objective is the promotion of 'Health for All' for the people of Taiwan. The foundation was the first and main non-profit organisation for tobacco control in Taiwan
National Institute on Drug Abuse (US)
Excellent scientific summary on the addictive properties and health effects of nicotine - the main drug in cigarettes.
Quit Victoria (Australia)
Victorian Quit smoking organisation. Contains links to latest television adverts and previous mass media campaigns.
Society for Research into Nicotine and Tobacco
A scientific society devoted to the study of nicotine's effect on the brain and human behaviour, and the effect of nicotine replacement therapies (patches etc). Many of the world's experts are members and the site has high quality and authoritative information.
Tobacco Control Legal Consortium (US)
Legal and policy orientated site with the best commentary and insight into US litigation, legislation and settlements. Also the web home of the Tobacco Products Liability Project.
Treatobacco.net
A database on treatment of tobacco dependence. This excellent resource draws together many strands of evidence on various forms of pharmacological and behavioural treatment, including: efficacy, cost effectiveness and health economics, policy issues, safety, tobacco dependence demographics, and health effects of smoking
VicHealth Centre for Tobacco Control (Australia)
Victoria, Australia Tobacco Control Unit is a joint initiative of the Cancer Council of Victoria, Vic Health, Department of Human Services and the National Heart Foundation. It works to promote tobacco control initiatives in Victoria.
World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe: Tobacco-free Europe
Tobacco-free Europe contributes to the reduction of tobacco use in the WHO European Region, and the harm caused by the use of tobacco products and by exposure to tobacco smoke. It helps to equip governments, international agencies and other partners to work together to control the tobacco epidemic, particularly through the implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and the European Strategy for Tobacco Control.
