 ASH News Release - 14 March 1997 ASH welcomes Mississippi rulingCommenting on the ruling by Mississippi's highest court which dismissed a tobacco industry attempt to thwart the Medicaid cases, Amanda Sandford said: "This ruling offers considerable hope for all those who became addicted to nicotine and whose health has suffered as a result of the ruthless tactics of the tobacco industry. "The tobacco companies attempts to manipulate the legal process have clearly failed and we look forward to the full trial in June. Then we will see just how disreputable the industry really is and how the tobacco barons knowingly continued to promote a product that kills one in two of its users.
