Correction:
Please note that the article in today's Daily News 'Blair suggests smoking age could be raised' features an inaccurate quote, seemingly attributed to Tony Blair:
'Smoke-free legislation, due to be introduced in England next summer, will see virtually all enclosed public places and work places become completely smoke-free - if there was "significant risk" people would be exposed to "significant quantities of smoke"'
What Tony Blair actually said on Question Time is made clear in the Forbes article linked to beneath the story in the Daily News:
'There was virtually unanimous support for raising the age for the sale of tobacco to 18 from health groups, retailers, the tobacco industry, parents, schools and young people,' [Tony Blair] said.
'We hope shortly to put measures before parliament to bring that into force.'
I apologise for any confusion caused.
