BAT's African Footprint - images from the AGM
BAT's African Footprint - images from the BAT AGM 2008
As British American Tobacco celebrated 100 years of trade in Africa at its AGM in London (on Wednesday, 30th April), campaigners were outside, protesting about the heavy footprint it leaves on the continent – death, hunger, poverty, and environmental destruction.
As shareholders met at BAT headquarters, protesters left their own footprint on the pavement outside – a thousand shoes, each representing a hundred potential deaths.
Young campaigners were joined by entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne (of BBC TV series 'Dragons' Den') to highlight BAT’s footprint on African youth.
