Media Campaign Resource Centres - Tobacco Counter Advertising Collection (External Web Page)
By the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This collection contains detailed information on tobacco counter-advertisements for television, radio, print, and outdoor use.

Organisations are able to use MCRC material and MCRC staff are available to assist your organisation in developing and implementing a successful media campaign using the advertisements in the collection.

Two thumbs down - Canada’s tobacco control mass media campaign

A critical appraisal of Canada's mass-media campaigns with good advice and lessons for any country, including and especially Britain. Concludes: "If there is an overall criticism of the federal mass media campaign in Year One, it is that it had no credible communication objective, no overall purpose, no vision, no idea of where it was going."

Saskatchewan (Canada) bans Point of Sale tobacco advertising (External Web Page)

Saskatchewan was the first province/state in North America to ban tobacco product retail displays in convenience stores in March 2002. The law requires vendors to use curtains and cabinets to hide cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobacco behind the counter, or ban minors from their stores.
