All Party Parliamentary Group on Smoking and Health

Next Meeting: Launch of "CLeaR: Excellence in local tobacco control"

Monday 14 May 2012, 4 to 6pm - The Grimond Room, Portcullis House

As councils in England prepare to take on new responsibilities for public health, ASH has been working with partners to develop an approach to local tobacco control that makes it easy to do it well.

The result is the CLeaR model. CLeaR stands for challenging services, leadership and results.

CLeaR is available free to councils, allowing them to assess their approach against the Department of Health’s Tobacco Control Plan for England and public health guidance from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Evidence (NICE). It also encourages learning from local innovation. Participating councils can opt for an external peer assessment to validate the council’s own findings and report on potential for improvement.

If you would like to attend the launch of the CLeaR model, please contact ASH at: appg@ash.org.uk
